Tabor got his tubes Friday. Everything went well. Tabor had them put in at Emanuel Hospital. This is how the morning went:
We got to the hospital at 6 am for check in. I signed a bunch of papers and they gave Tabor a stuffed animal. After check in we went down the hall to the kids ward. They put us in a room and had Tabor put on clothes. They looked like pj's. We filled out a form on a clipboard. At about 6:30, a nurse came and weighed Tabor, checked oxygen, took his temperature and listened to his lungs. They said at 7 am, Tabor was going to get a "cocktail". It had Tylenol and a medicine that helps your kids leaving you easier but when they wake up it makes them fussy. Until 7 am, Tabor got to play in the playroom they had. When it was 7 am, they came and got us gave Tabor his "cocktail" and we were taken downstairs to wait for the doctor. At about 7:15 am the anesthesiologist and doctor came to talk to us. The anesthesiologist told us what there roll was and to doctor just gave a brief rundown of what he was doing. They said it would be about 15 minute surgery and they would get us from the waiting room. They then rolled my baby away at 7:30. I almost cried at that point. A nurse walked us to the waiting room to wait for the doctor. At 7:45 the doctor came to talk to us. Said everything went good. He sucked fluid from Tabor's ear and told us how to give the ear drops. He said a nurse would come get us when Tabor was awake. At 7:55 they with Tabor and took us back upstairs. They said we would stay about an hour. Tabor got some apple juice and then started to get fussy. We walked Tabor around for awhile then they gave him a Popsicle. Which he enjoyed very much. We left the hospital at 9 am and headed home. The rest of the day Tabor was fussy and took several naps. He slept all night without waking up. The anesthesia didn't make him get sick, either.
The surgery wasn't that big of a deal like of everybody said. It just was a little nerve racking. I have decided if I ever have surgery, I want to be on the pediatric floor. I don't think they will let me but it's everybody was so nice there. Plus you get a stuffed animal.
